We're Transforming Patient Care Across Florida's Central Florida
- Central Florida ACO, founded by Jay Chowdappa, MD, is a primary care-centric Accountable Care Organization (ACO) dedicated to participating in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) from January 1st, 2016 onwards. Our MSSP ACO endeavors to collaborate with providers to achieve the "Three-part aim": enhancing the care experience, improving health outcomes, and reducing Medicare expenditures, thereby sharing in Medicare savings.
- Our objective is to significantly enhance patient care outcomes through improved care coordination for Medicare Fee-For-Service beneficiaries across the Central Florida area of Florida and neighboring counties. We are currently extending invitations to primary care physicians who share our vision to join us as participants. There are no initiation fees, and participant physicians have an equal opportunity to become stakeholders in Central Florida ACO.
Leadership
Dr. Jay Chowdappa: Leading Healthcare Innovator in Tampa Bay
- Dr. Jay Chowdappa, with over 20 years of experience in Internal Medicine, Managed Care, and Physician Leadership, is the President and Medical Director of Apollo Medical Group P.A., overseeing three primary care locations in the Tampa Bay Area.
- Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Chowdappa has served as past president of his County Medical Society and the Florida Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (FAPI). He currently serves as the market Medical Director for a Medicare Managed Services Organization (MSO), driving improved healthcare outcomes.
- In 2012, Dr. Chowdappa founded West Florida ACO, which now includes over 100 Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) managing nearly 20,000 Medicare lives. This ACO, one of the first 27 nationwide, achieved $14 million in Medicare savings in its inaugural year under Dr. Chowdappa's leadership.
- Additionally in 2013, Dr. Chowdappa founded NEXT Healthcare Solutions, offering strategic management and consulting services to ACOs nationwide.
